I love yoga so much. I was practicing this morning with teacher Lindsay P. at LifeTime Southdale. She teaches a 75 minute hot flow, which pretty much means lots of breath, movement, heat, sweating your a*@ off, getting your heart rate up, surrounded by maybe 50 fellow yogis? I am so grateful.
Somewhere in the practice she said, “it’s no coincidence that OM is right in the middle of HOME.” Ahhh, such a brilliant nugget. I love the concept of home, and being at home with myself. One of my practices this year is really sinking into my home of me, and not wanting to be anywhere but right where I am. Let me explain.

Finding Home in the Life You Have
It’s easy to think that life should be different, “You should be somewhere else.” A different job. A different relationship. A different body. A different home. The message can sound like —where you are isn’t enough.
But what if the secret to peace isn’t out there? What if it’s right here, in this moment, in the life you’re already living? Adapting a mindset that you are at home with what is, right now.
The Trap of Wishing for More
We all do it. We imagine that once we have the perfect circumstances, we’ll finally feel at peace. “Once I get that promotion, I’ll feel successful.” “Once I find the right partner, I’ll feel complete.”
But the truth is, home is a state of being. If we’re always looking ahead, we miss the beauty of now, the home of today.
Gratitude: The Key to Feeling at Home
Being at home means deeply appreciating where you are while still moving forward with intention.
- Instead of longing for a different home, notice the beauty of the one you have.
- Instead of wishing for a different body, appreciate the strength and resilience of the one you live in.
- Instead of yearning for a different life, pause and acknowledge the small joys of today.
Choose being relentlessly grateful for what is. When we choose relentless gratitude for our current circumstances, miracles happen.

Coming Home to Yourself
Home is a being relentlessly grateful for your life as it is.
You don’t have to wait for circumstances to change before you allow yourself contentment. You are allowed to love the life you have, exactly as it is.
So today, take a deep breath. Look around at what’s already here. This is your life. And it is beautiful. You are at home with you.
Namaste,
Jill
