I love barbell class. This has been a new practice for me, for the last 10 months or so.
In barbell class, we practice reps of dead lifts, squats, bent over rows, chest presses, chest flies, bicep curls, triceps, split squats. We exercise all major muscle groups, rep after rep.
I have fallen in love with the sweetness of reps. I have experienced this desire to show up to class again, and again, and do my reps. Small, incremental, rep after rep, class after class, resulting in STRENGTH, inner and outer STRENGTH. One rep at a time.
But what has been so beautiful and sweet is this mindset and practice of reps in life. Reps of meditation, reps of driving into the office, reps of hard work, reps of conversations, reps of meetings, reps of e-mails, reps of healthy choices, reps of yard work. My reps in barbell class have given me this appreciation of the sweetness of reps outside of class. My reps give me strength, conviction, determination, focus to do hard things, presence, over and over again – without being depleted or wiped out.
It’s like my body is attuned to a cadence of reps that is with me as I “lift” through life challenge, hard stuff, life’s tasks. My sweet reps kick in during life outside of class.
Come join me sometime! I’d love to go to class with you, guaranteed good play-list. Let’s keep in touch about how to sweeten the reps in your life. I’m in for the journey of sweetening my reps!
In appreciation,
Jill
