I recently came across a research article (Thrive and Survive: Assessing Personal Sustainability, Consulting Psychology Journal) by Richard Boyatzis and Daniel Goleman about stress and renewal with insights that I think are Too Cool Not to Share.
In this article, Boyatzis and Goleman talk about the impact stress has on engagement, our immune system, on impairing our creativity, and even our cognitive abilities. Stress causes us to feel poorly. What I loved is that they called out in the article is that the antidote is not to reduce the amount of stress. Did you hear that, the solution is not to reduce the amount of stress.
I really resonate with this, in this chaotic world, we aren’t going to reduce the potential sources of stress. I think you would agree. So, what they say, is that the antidote is to develop renewal practices that arouse our parasympathetic nervous system.

You may be saying, Jill, why are you so excited about this? Here’s why…
I want to introduce you to a research-based organization that has been studying and practicing how to arouse the parasympathetic nervous system for the last 30 years! They’ve got this antidote to living in a stressful world figured out.
