This is one of my favorite kind of stories to share. A story about Tyler and I. He was home for a stretch this week, and I am always inspired by something I learn from him about life.
There were many things we talked about, but one of my favorites was a story he shared about collecting moonjuice. Tyler lived with a high school friend last year in Chicago. These are two young men who both are achieving their goal of going to med school, so intelligent young men. They lived in this tiny apartment in Wrigleyville.
His roommate worked with a woman who let’s say trusted the woo-woo. One day she told Tyler’s roommate that the moon was full and aligned, and that it was a good night to collect moonjuice. These two young men, with nothing to lose, decided they could benefit from a little moonjuice luck, so they put a jar out on their landing. The next morning they brought it in.
Now, Tyler and his roommate can’t prove it, but they think their moonjuice experiment brought good luck to the Timberwolves last season, going into the playoffs. Soon after they collected the moonjuice, the Twolves went on a winning streak.
So, tonight, Tyler’s buddy texted him and said it’s going to be a full moon, time to collect some moonjuice. Tyler asked if I had a mason jar, which I didn’t – but I did have a pretty good sized jar for our experiment. He put it outside, and it’s right in the path of the moon’s bright radiance.
Ahhh yes – collecting moonjuice, of course. Why aren’t these practices more well known? We all just need to collect a little moonjuice during these chaotic times, that’s all.
So my friends, let’s put our faith in things like collecting moonjuice, loving those dear to us just a little more, taking time to treat ourselves to just sitting and laughing, remembering the simplicity of big love. That’s all that really matters.
Tyler is a moonjuice kind of young man. So proud of the man he is becoming, and celebrating that he knows the power of friendship and moonjuice.
In gratitude and appreciation for all our jar of moonjuice will bring in these times.

With love,
Jill
